Resolution Of The City Council Approving
A 90 Day Loan For The Purchase Of
A New Firetruck In Concert With
The Moody Volunteer Fire Department

WHEREAS; the Moody Volunteer Fire Department has been approved to receive a $200,000.00 maximum grant from the Texas Forest Service for the purchase of a new fire truck.

WHEREAS; the grant from the Texas Forest Service is a 90-10 grant requiring the Moody Volunteer Fire Department to provide matching funds of at least 10% towards the purchase of the firetruck.

WHEREAS; the Moody Volunteer Fire Department after due diligence and a detailed selection process has ordered a new firetruck from Wildfire Truck & Equipment LLC of Alvarado, Texas to meet the requirements of a triple combination pumper truck and also be off-road capable, equipped with new battery operated rescue tools (Jaws of Life), chainsaw, rescue saw, foam eductor system, a smoke ejector, and a full complement of fire extinguishers, hose and nozzles. This fire suppression vehicle is a hybrid vehicle designed for residential, rural, and wildfire operations.

WHEREAS; the purchase price for this firetruck is $222,914.57. Of which $200,000.00 will be paid by the Texas Forest Service Grant and the remaining $22,914.57 and any related fees and potential interest will be paid by the Moody VFD from funds accrued and on-hand for this purchase.

BE IT UNDERSTOOD; that this vehicle will be the property of the City of Moody and the City will cover said vehicle with appropriate insurance, provide storage, and include in its annual budget for this vehicle’s maintenance and general operation. Maintenance and operational use will be by the Moody Volunteer Fire Department.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; that the Mayor Charleen Dowell and City Administrator William Sterling be directed and empowered in concert with the Moody Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Alton to make a 90 day loan in the amount of $222,917.57 to be paid for within the specified time period by the Moody Volunteer

FULFILLMENT OF THIS RESOLUTION AND THE SUBSEQUENT REQUIRED ACTIONS IN SO DOING ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND CONFIRMED as the act of the City Council of the City of Moody, TX.
